We've Been Tagged

Thursday, February 28, 2008

Several weeks ago , my friend Elizabeth (Bella) tagged me. Being tagged means that I am to write 7 things about myself that most people would not know. I really thought hard about what to write, but never got around to it, because I hate to write about myself. So last night as I tossed and turned in bed, I decided to tag Rebecca. Since she is not yet able to type herself, I will tell you seven things about her that most people might not know.

1. She sleeps with a stuffed rabbit that we have named, Bun Bun. Now I know that this might not be the most original name, but after all, her mother did have a stuffed animal growing up named Ted E. Bear. So Bun Bun could have been named Bun E. Rabbit. Rebecca loves Bun Bun. Every morning I find them snuggling. It looks more like Rebecca is trying to eat the poor rabbit, but that is just Rebecca's way of snuggling.

2. She is a morning person. She is so happy when she wakes up. Very seldom does she wake up crying. I usually wake up to the sound of her "talking", then I have time to get up and get my tea made before I get her out of bed. I am not a morning person; I am pretty grumpy until I see Rebecca in her bed. She just smiles at me. It makes all my grumpies go away.

3. Rebecca loves to take a bath. When I first put her in the tub, she is very still then lets out a sigh of relief. It is kind of like what most adults do when they have a chance to take a nice hot bath. They get in the tub and then relax. Rebecca's relaxing doesn't last long. She loves to kick and splash while she is in the bath. I usually end up soaked from all the water that is splashed out of the tub.

4. She can not stay awake in a car or in the stroller. It does not matter if she just woke up. If we are in the car or strolling for more than 10 minutes, she will be asleep.

5. Rebecca smiles a lot, but her biggest smile is for Daddy when he comes home from work. It does not matter what she is doing, but as soon as she hears his voice coming through the door, she looks up and gives the biggest grin. (I don't know who is more excited to see him, Rebecca or me.)

6. Rebecca's favorite food is rice cereal. She could eat a whole box of it if we let her. She likes other foods. We have tried oatmeal, sweet potatoes, carrots, sweet peas, and avocados, but her all time favorite is rice cereal.

7. Rebecca is a Mommy's girl. Just a couple of days ago, she started to show signs of separation anxiety. Anytime I walk out of a room, she starts to cry. But if she can see me, she is fine. The other night I had to run to the store, so I left Rebecca with John. He said that she started to cry the moment I left and did not stop until I walked back in the house. This should make me feel good, like "She really loves her mommy!", but instead I am thinking, "Oh, no!" Don't get me wrong, I want her to be a mommy's girl. I want to have the kind of relationship with my daughter that I have with my mom, but I also do not want her to get upset when I leave. I guess pay back is coming to me. I definitely had issues with my mom leaving me. I remember chasing my mom around the house with the babysitter chasing me. I could not stand for my mom to leave. I am sure I made things for difficult for my mom. But she always came back, just like I will always come back to my baby girl.

There you have it; 7 facts about Rebecca. Believe me, there is tons more I could have written. Maybe one day I will tag Rebecca again. It was fun thinking of all the things that make Rebecca the special, wonderful, amazing baby girl she is. Now, I challenge all my blogging friends to tag their babies. Let the world know what makes their little ones special. I can't wait to read all about them.

Something New

Wednesday, February 20, 2008

It seems that Rebecca has something new to show us every day. It is so fun! I want to walk around with my video camera and capture each and every moment. Time seems to be going by so fast, it makes me a little sad. Our friends, Brian and Joy, just had a baby. His name is Jack. Seeing Jack makes me realize how much Rebecca has grown in the past five months. While I am glad that we are not in the newborn stage again, I do wish that time would stand still for a little while. Especially this stage in Rebecca's life. She is so funny and amazing. Yesterday she started trying to pick her bottom up off the floor while she was on her tummy. When she does this, she scoots backwards. I really think she will be crawling in the next month. Today she started panting like a puppy dog. She used to do this when she was first born, when I was nursing her. Now she does it all the time: when I am nursing, when I am feeding her, when I am changing her diaper, when we are at the post office. It is hillarious. I can not wait to see what she will do new tomorrow.

Rebecca seems to be talking a lot more these days.

Up, down!

Sunday, February 3, 2008

I can not get enough of Rebecca's laugh. It is the sweetest sound I have ever heard. Fortunately, it does not take much to make her laugh. She thinks I am so funny!

I finally got the video to download that I made the other day. Enjoy the sweetest laugh ever.

The Great Magician

Friday, February 1, 2008

Rebecca has lots of new tricks these days. She rolls from her back to her tummy, only no one has ever seen her do this. It is like magic. Once I put her down on her back and went into the kitchen to answer the phone. When I came back, she was on her tummy. About a week later, she was napping in her bed on her back, of course. She started fussing. I waited a few minutes to see if she would go back to bed. When she didn't, I went in to check on her, and she was on her tummy with her thumb in her mouth. It is the craziest thing. She will not roll over in front of anyone. I guess we will keep trying.

She has also found her feet. She tries really hard to get them in her mouth. It is very helpful when I am changing her diaper. She holds her feet and legs up and out of the way.

She is screaming a lot more. The other day, she screamed for the better part of the afternoon.

I got some of it on video.

She is also laughing a lot more. I got a precious video of her laughing, but for some reason it will not download onto the blog. I will keep trying.
