Halloween Prep

Friday, October 30, 2009

Rebecca wasn't so sure what Halloween was all about before this week, but we have been sure to give her a good introduction to all the fun it entails.

On Sunday, we went to her preschool for Trunk-or-Treat. Several church members decorated their trunks and gave out candy in the church parking lot. Rebecca had not a clue what was going on, but she liked dressing up and carrying her pumpkin around. I was a bad mommy and didn't take my camera.

On Monday, we went to a neighborhood Halloween party at Davis' house. It was a lot of fun to see all the kids in their costumes.

The kids decorated sugar cookies. Rebecca had so much fun, I had to bribe her to leave with a second sugar cookie. Needless to say, Rebecca did not eat much dinner that night.

On Thursday, Rebecca's class had a Halloween party. I loved seeing her with all her classmates. It was adorable.

Rebecca's class and her teachers, Ms. Anissa and Ms. Maria

Most of the kids were covered in cupcake frosting when it was all over, but not my princess. She was very careful not to get icing anywhere except her mouth. She is such a dainty eater.

After the weeks festivities, she was sure excited to see what Halloween was all about.

Rebecca Short Take 2

Sunday, October 25, 2009

Tonight at dinner Rebecca held her arm up to her ear like a telephone and had the following conversation:

Hey! What chu doin?

It's me, Webecca.

I'm eatin.

I asked her who she was talking to.

She replied, "Kato!"

--------------------------------------------------------
Before bedtime I was reading her a book of nursery rhymes. As I was reading "This little piggy" Rebecca pointed to a picture of the pig on the page and said, "Oh look, there's Momma."

Do you think she is trying to tell me something?

Pumpkin Patch

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

We traveled up to Berry Patch Farms last weekend to the pumpkin patch with Rebecca's friend Joshie. It was freezing, but fun was had by all. I was able to take a good amount of pictures, and Rebecca was able to practice her "cheese" face.

Monster Invasion

Monday, October 19, 2009

A monster has invaded our daughter the past several days. They come in the form of three stubborn molars that do not want to show their faces. They are making our usually happy-go-lucky child into, well, a monster. She hates to have her diaper changed, she hates to take a bath, she is not sleeping through the night, she wakes up early, she demands what she wants, and loses it when she does not get her way. Her hand is constantly in her mouth, which is exactly what we want this time of year with all the illnesses going around. Her face is constantly covered in drool, which in turn, makes her face red and chapped (great for school pictures tomorrow).

John and I are trying our best to be patient with these monster invaders, but at times our patience runs thin. Rebecca has been spending a good amount of time in time-out, which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. We are doing our best to just keep Rebecca comfortable with medicine, get in lots of snuggles, and keep her happy without letting her be the boss. (That's my job.)

It's not fair that we already have to deal with the terrible twos, but also two-year molars. And of course, it seems that Rebecca's monsters want to make an appearance one at a time. Let's just all say a prayer that they man up and decided to show their faces soon.

Rebecca Short

Monday, October 12, 2009

This morning when I was trying to get dressed I said to Rebecca, "I'll be right back. I need to go find a shirt."

She responded, "Oh, that's alright, Mommy. You'll find a shirt. I promise."

Chattanooga

Wednesday, October 7, 2009

This past weekend we went to Chattanooga for John's high school reunion. We were lucky enough to be able to stay with Denise, Rob, and Mae. We had a great time.

Friday was John's birthday, so we started off the morning with blueberry muffins. Ever since Rebecca's birthday she sings Happy Birthday into her microphone. It is about the only song she sings into that thing. So, of course, she had to go and grab it when she realized what we were doing.

On Saturday morning, we met Jim, Ronnie, Shannon, Greg, and Greer for breakfast. We do not get to see Shannon, Greg, and Greer very often, so we were excited to see them. The girls were very excited to see each other.
This is Rebecca's face when you tell her to say "cheese".

After breakfast we went to Coolidge Park to ride the carousel. Again Rebecca is saying "cheese".
We went to see the riverboats. Once as we were crossing a bridge over the Tennessee River Rebecca said, "I want a riber."
The stage was empty at the park, so Rebecca decided to get up and entertain the crowds.

That afternoon we went to meet some friends to watch the wonderful, yet scary, LSU/UGA game. Rebecca was entertained by Mae and Denise. She had such a wonderful time all weekend playing with them. The girls got along really well.

Rebecca is already asking when we can go back to Deesa's house.
