Monster Invasion

Monday, October 19, 2009

A monster has invaded our daughter the past several days. They come in the form of three stubborn molars that do not want to show their faces. They are making our usually happy-go-lucky child into, well, a monster. She hates to have her diaper changed, she hates to take a bath, she is not sleeping through the night, she wakes up early, she demands what she wants, and loses it when she does not get her way. Her hand is constantly in her mouth, which is exactly what we want this time of year with all the illnesses going around. Her face is constantly covered in drool, which in turn, makes her face red and chapped (great for school pictures tomorrow).

John and I are trying our best to be patient with these monster invaders, but at times our patience runs thin. Rebecca has been spending a good amount of time in time-out, which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. We are doing our best to just keep Rebecca comfortable with medicine, get in lots of snuggles, and keep her happy without letting her be the boss. (That's my job.)

It's not fair that we already have to deal with the terrible twos, but also two-year molars. And of course, it seems that Rebecca's monsters want to make an appearance one at a time. Let's just all say a prayer that they man up and decided to show their faces soon.
