Powder Room?

Thursday, January 29, 2009

Rebecca loves her Little People Village.  I love watching her play with it.  It is so cute to see her talk to the little people and animals.

Yesterday I was trying to get a good video of her playing, when all of a sudden she hops up and runs into her Powder Room.  Her powder room is behind our kitchen table.

Is it normal for a 16 month old to go to the same spot in the house any time she has to go poop?  Does she think that we do not know what she is doing back there?  Is behind the kitchen table the most private area of our house?  Why there?  I don't get it!  But I do think it is hilarious!

You better work!

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Rebecca had her first paying job yesterday!  That's right!  We put her to work.

John's cousin, Ann, works for Bas Bleu.  They needed a baby to model a bib that they are going to be selling in their next catalogue.

I should have known from when we had Rebecca's 1-year pictures taken, how difficult it would be.  It was especially hard since the photographer wanted her to stand still, look at the camera, and leave the bib on.

Rebecca did a great job considering what she had to do.  After several takes, the photographer got the shot.   Hopefully they are what Bas Bleu wants.  The catalogue comes out in March.   I can't wait to see my beautiful baby girl.

It has been a while since I have posted pictures.  Here are some from this past week.

Torture

Monday, January 26, 2009

Is it really that bad to get your diaper changed?

Well, according to Rebecca, it is TORTURE!

It must be really painful!

She screams!

She kicks!

She swats her hands!

She tries to roll over!

It must be hell on earth for her to have her diaper changed.

Potty training is not far behind!

Sarah NO!

Thursday, January 22, 2009

A few weeks ago, I left John and Rebecca at home while I went to run errands.  I was gone for a few hours.

When I returned home, John said that Rebecca had been saying "wawe, wawe, wawe"  all day.

I said, "That means she wants water."

Poor baby, she was thirsty and wanted water.  John felt bad that he did not understand her language.

-------------------------------------------------------------

When Nannie was in town last week, she sat down with Rebecca while Rebecca ate her dinner.

After several minutes, Rebecca started to say, " awdun, Awdun, AWDUN!"

Nannie asked what she was saying.  I replied, "She is saying that she is all done."

--------------------------------------------------------------

Rebecca really likes going to MMO every Wednesday.  She gets excited when I tell her she is going to play with Miss Stacy, Miss Mikyla, and Sarah.

Sarah is one of her classmates who is about her age.  Her teachers always have a funny story about how the two girls "play" together.  It usually involves them taking toys from each other.

Last week it was that Rebecca followed Sarah around the classroom saying her name over and over again.  "Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, SarahAdd Image, Sarah, Sarah."

This week the story was that Rebecca wanted the doll that Sarah had, and Sarah wanted a toy that Rebecca had.  The pasture is always greener.

On our way home yesterday from MMO Rebecca was doing her usual babbling.  All of a sudden she started to scream, "Sarah NO!  No Sarah!"  She said it over and over.

I am not sure if this is something Rebecca heard her teachers say or if it is something Rebecca took upon herself to tell Sarah.  But I would not be surprised if it was the second.

Busy, busy, busy!

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

I had been so good about blogging, but then life happened and blogging got put on the back burner.  We have been super busy the past week.  We got back from Chattanooga last Tuesday. Rebecca had MMO on Wednesday.  Joshua came to play Thursday morning.  Nannie came Thursday afternoon.  Denise and Mae came Friday.  Nannie and I went to see Celine Dion on Saturday.

Side note:  I LOVE CELINE DION!  Mom and I had so much fun at the concert.  I really wanted (and still do) to be Celine.  She has the cutest body.  Her hair is beautiful.  Her voice...nuf said.  She is filthy rich.  I could do without the quirky facial expressions and the old husband.  Plus, if her son was mine, he would get a MAJOR hair cut.  But other than that, I am green with envy.

On Sunday we rested as good Christians should do.  On Monday we headed back to Chattanooga for the night.  We came back on Tuesday. Today, Rebecca went to MMO and I am enjoying being at home, alone.

It is not that I do not love being busy and having company, but after a week of it, quiet is good.

Rebecca is doing great.  Her head is healing nicely.  The glue is starting to peel off.  And she is smelling a lot better now that she can take a real bath and get her hair washed!

Her are some pictures of her from our busy week.

I was bound to happen...

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Rebecca and I went to Chattanooga for the night to visit my sister, Denise, her husband, Rob, and their daughter, Mae.  We had a wonderful time visiting with them and are so glad that they are now so close to us.

We went to the Children's Museum, went on a walk to see horses, went to the Pumpkin Patch playground and froze, and went to the Emergency Room.  That's right, the emergency room.  It was bound to happen sooner or later with the way Rebecca loves to climb and the fact that she is fearless.  She is my Monkey Girl, after all.

She was playing on a bouncy horsey thingy, and just tipped over.  She landed pretty hard on her head.  A huge knot welled up and blood started to pour.  Rebecca was of course screaming.  Mae got scared in all of the commotion, so she started to cry.  It was a mess.

After a little doctoring and a lot of cuddling, the blood and crying stopped.  The knot was pretty scary.  The cut was small, but looked deep.

We decided to not take any chances and took her to the emergency room.

After waiting what seemed like an eternity, the doctor walked in and said, "Is she acting normal?"

"Yes!"

"Well then she is going to be fine."

"Duh, but we are concerned about the cut."

"Oh, well let me take a look at that."

After a quick glance, he said he could glue her up and she would be as good as new.

The worse part of the ordeal, other than waiting forever in the ER, was putting the numbing medicine on Rebecca's cut.  I had to hold a soaked cotton ball on the cut for 5-10 minutes, and not let it get anywhere else, especially her eye.

As most of you know, Rebecca hates being held down.  She cried and cried and cried.

After about 5 minutes of her screaming, the doctor came back and said, "Why don't we just tape the cotton ball down to the cut."

Brilliant idea!

She was able to get down and play with Denise while her head was getting numb.  (Thank you Denise for helping me to distract Rebecca during the whole ordeal.)

After another stint of waiting, the doctor and nurse came back in and "glued Humpty together again."

She is doing great now!  Not once has she tried to touch the spot on her head!  The glue is suppose to last 5 days and not get wet during that period.  Then she will be good as new with just a small scar on her head.

Here are some pictures of our trip to Chattanooga.

Swimming with the Fish

Thursday, January 8, 2009

Rebecca and I met our friends, Maddie and Davis, at the Georgia Aquarium today.  It was not Rebecca's first visit there, but the first where she did not have to stay confined to her stroller. The aquarium was pretty much empty, so Rebecca and Davis took full advantage of the space and ran all around.

They had a great time, and probably pointed to and said "FISH"  a million times.

Here are some pictures from our trip.

Here is Rebecca shaking hands with Deepo, the Aquarium's mascot.  He has legs, but squatted down for Rebecca.  She walked right up to him and rubbed on his eyes and gave him hugs and kisses.  The guy that walks around with Deepo said he has never seen a child that age that is not scared of him.  I was shocked too after what we went through with Santa.

Reading in the Tub

One of my favorite things to do is to take a bath.  There are not many things that are better than sitting in a hot tub and reading a trashy magazine.

I think Rebecca feels the exact same way, minus the trashy magazine.

Last night as I ran the water for her bath, she ran into her room and grabbed two books.  She ran back into the bathroom and threw the books into the bathtub that was full of water.

I was able to save one book before it hit the water, but the other one got wet.  I picked it up quickly and put the two books up on the counter.

Rebecca did not like that at all.  She ran back to her room and grabbed two more books.

I was able to get them away from her before they made the trip into the tub.

She really did not like this.  I tried to explain to her that those books did not need a bath, but she didn't care.

She just wanted to read in the tub.

UPDATE:

Rebecca's sleeping had gotten so much better.  She has been sleeping until 7:00 or 7:30 for the past few mornings.

Please pray that she continues to sleep wonderfully.

Bathroom Humor

Tuesday, January 6, 2009

I can not believe that I am about to share this story with you all, but it is too funny not to share.

As any stay-at-home mother, or anyone left at home with a 15 month old, can attest, you can not go the the bathroom by yourself.  If Rebecca is up and I need to go use the bathroom, she is right beside me.

She used to just open and close the cabinets, occasionally taking things out as I went about my business.  Then she got to where she would unroll all the toilet paper.  The past couple of days, she has torn off the toilet paper and handed it to me saying, "This."  That is what she says when she wants me to take something.

Today we were in our half bathroom which is not very big at all.  As I was going to the bathroom (number 1)  she was unrolling the toilet paper and tore off a good amount.

When I finished I reached out to grab the toilet paper from her, but she said, "NO!"  She then proceeded to (or at least try to) stick the toilet paper between my legs.  She wanted to wipe for me.

I nearly fell off the toilet laughing.

Is it time to start thinking about potty training?

Eees, Mmms, and Ohhhs

Monday, January 5, 2009

Rebecca has started adding -ie to everyone's name.  Mama is now Mommy.  Dada is now Daddy. Even Bubba is now Bubbie.  It is so cute.

Another thing that Rebecca does is Mmmmmmm when she likes what she eats.

The sun finally came out a little this afternoon, so we went to the park.  Rebecca had a great time until she fell down and skinned her knee.  It is her first skinned knee, and it will not be her last if she is anything like me.

I have a first aid kit in my car, so we got it cleaned up with a band-aid.  She was fascinated with the band-aid for the rest of the day.  She never tried to take it off, but she would look at it every few minutes to make sure it was still there.

Here she is watching The Wonder Pets and checking on her band-aid.

Speaking of Wonder Pets, she is obsessed.  When she is not watching the show, she is playing with the stuffed animals.  Poor Linny, Tuck, and Ming Ming too; they have done everything with Rebecca.  Here they are looking out the window with her.

Feisty Fifteen Months

Friday, January 2, 2009

Forget the terrible twos.  We are smack dab in the middle of the feisty fifteen months.

Feisty is putting it mildly.

She knows what she wants, and if she doesn't get it, WHOA NELLY!

She throws her arms up.  She slinks her body limp.  She screams.  She SCREAMS!  She kicks. Did I mention, she screams.

What is a Mommy to do?

If we are at home, I walk away.  Dr. Knox told me to.

If we are in public, I just pick her up and go on about my business.

Forget the strangers that are staring.

Forget the strangers that think I need to get a hold of my child.

Forget the strangers that think I am a terrible mother.

My name is Mira, and my child is a feisty fifteen month old.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I feel the need to mention that I am crazy in love with my daughter.

She can be a pistol, but for the most part, she is a funny, silly, snuggle bug who is the center of my world.

She makes me happier than I ever thought possible.

Happy New Year

Thursday, January 1, 2009

Happy New Year to everyone!

Last night, Rebecca spent the night with her Mimi and Papa.  She had so much fun that she did not want to come home.

They let her do what ever she wants.

They watched Wonder Pets 1,000,000 times.

They played with play dough.

They played with the train.

They stayed up late (8:00).

They did whatever the princess wanted to do.

She cried all the way home and then some when we got here.

I love that she loves her Mimi and Papa.

I love that Mimi and Papa were willing to keep her for the night so John and I could go to the Peach Bowl.  (It is actually now the Chick-fil-a Bowl, but I refuse to call it that.)

LSU beat Georgia Tech BAD!   It was fun, but a blow out like that only makes me 85% happy for my team, and 15% sorry for the other.

Okay, maybe 99%/1%.

Geaux Tigers!
