I Stuck

Friday, February 27, 2009

"I stuck!"  is Rebecca's new favorite saying.  She says it 10,000,000,000 times a day.  No joke.

Rebecca:  I stuck, I stuck, I stuck!

Me:  I know your stuck, and your going to stay stuck until we get off the interstate and get home.

Rebecca:  I STUCK!

Me:  I know, I stuck you in your car seat on purpose.

A couple of hours later as we strolled home from the park:

Rebecca:  I stuck, I stuck, I stuck!

Me:  I know, and you will stay stuck for another half a mile.

Park

Thursday, February 26, 2009

Is it possible that Rebecca knows the way from our house to the park?

We do go often, but not everyday.

I understand that when we drive by the park, she freaks out a little.  She screams "PARK, PARK, PARK!"

But she also freaks out when we leave the house and "miss" the turn that takes us to the park.

Yesterday we strolled to our neighborhood play-group.  She had a conniption coming and going because we did not turn down the street that takes us to the park.

Really?  She is 17 months old.  Does she really know the way to the park?

Here are some pictures of Rebecca at her beloved park:

Randoms

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

I don't have a main topic to blog about tonight, so I am going to just list a few random things about Rebecca.

The Wonder Pets have been replaced with Dora.

Rebecca is down to only one nap.

She thinks that the phrase "Oh, child!" is the funniest thing she has ever heard.

She wants to do everything herself.

She likes to double-fist it.

She likes to dress like her friends.  (Just kidding, this was not planned at all.)

I love, love this picture of Rebecca.

Smelly

Thursday, February 19, 2009

The following is a conversation I had with Rebecca the other day:

Me:  Ewwwww!  Someone has a stinky booty!  Who has a stinking booty?

Rebecca:  Daddy

Me:  Daddy has a stinky booty?

Rebecca:  Yes!

Daddy was at work.  It was not him that had the stinky booty, and it was not me either.

Be Mine

Saturday, February 14, 2009

Rebecca and I attempted to make Valentine cards yesterday.  I turned my head for one minute, and she decided to make herself the Valentine.

Will you be my Valentine?

What a difference a year makes!

The Zoo and the Goose

Thursday, February 12, 2009

Today was a gorgeous day; too bad Rebecca woke up on the wrong side of the crib. She was super feisty, and by 7:30 I was ready to put her down to bed. (She had only been up an hour by then.) I toughed it out another hour and put her down at 8:30. By 9:30 we were both dressed and headed down to the zoo.

Rebecca had a great time. She loved looking at the animals. She did not want to leave one to go see another. I would have to drag her away, but once she realized there was another one to look at, she got excited again. This happened for every animal.

We saw flamingos, warthogs, zebras, giraffes, lions, gorillas, tigers, pigs, sheep, goats, kangaroos, tortoises, alligators, lots of birds, and the panda bears.

She was not too sure about petting the animals in the petting zoo.  She did come close to petting this sleeping pig, but just as she was about to pet him, he sneezed.  It scared her half to death.  After that, she was through with the petting zoo.

Rebecca's favorite thing at the zoo was this.

She liked them because there were stairs behind them that she could climb up and down.

We rode the carousel.  She was not a fan at first.  She was afraid to sit on the animals, but once the carousel started to move, she fell in love.  Then she did not want to get off.
Luckily, I was able to distract her with a train ride.

My favorite thing at the zoo was the Panda bears.  The Mommy bear and the cub were out playing around.  The cub, Xi Lan, kept trying to climb up the structure in the exhibit.  The zookeeper said that he goes up there to take a nap.  But the mommy kept pulling down Xi Lan.  I guess she did not want him to nap.

I am not sure of the mommy's reasoning behind not wanting her baby to nap.  If Rebecca ever wanted to nap, I would be all for it.

Rebecca has two pairs of pajamas that have ducks on them.   Whenever she has them on, I can't help but do this...

Baby, It's Cold Outside

Thursday, February 5, 2009

My bloggy friend MckMamma wrote this post the other day about creative indoor activities she does with her many kids during the winter and they are stuck in the house. MckMamma and her many small children live in what she refers to the "frozen tundra." I am not sure exactly where that is, but her husband loves to go ice fishing. Needless to say, it is frozen up there.

It has been very cold here in the South, too. Today's high was maybe 40, and that is too cold to go outside. Heck, who am I kidding? Anything below 60 is too cold to go outside.

At any rate, we were stuck in the house all day long.

Rebecca would sit in front of the TV all day and watch The Wonder Pets if I let her, but I won't. So I had to come up with some creative indoor ideas for Rebecca and I to do.

In talking with my friends and reading their blogs, I have noticed that I am not the only one that struggles with coming up with ideas for indoor play. So I thought that I would share with you what Rebecca and I did today, and if any of my faithful blog reader have any suggestions, pass them on. PLEASE!

MckMamma gave me this idea. I sat Rebecca at the table and gave her a roasting pan with some cups. I gave her about a cup of uncooked rice. She had a ball playing with the cups and rice, and the pan helped contain the rice somewhat. It did require some sweeping after Rebecca was done playing, but it was worth it. It kept Rebecca entertained for 20 or so minutes.

I built a fort underneath our dinning room table, and put some of Rebecca's favorite toys in there along with some flashlights. This was a lot of fun. Rebecca loves a fort, and this one was big enough for the two of us. We played with the Wonder Pets and flashlights. We read books. We took up a lot of time in the fort.  Here Rebecca is with Daddy reading in her fort.

I tried to get Rebecca to finger paint, but she does not like to have gunk on her hands. So I gave her a brush, squirted some finger paint on the paper, and let her go. She had fun, and I have some beautiful art for my fridge.

After finger painting, Rebecca had paint all over her. It was towards the end of the day, so I decided to go ahead and put her in the bath. She usually does not take a bath until right before bed, but this worked out great. I let her play in the tub longer than usual because I was not anxious about bed time. She had fun because she loves a bath. It took up a lot of time! Everyone was happy!

Okay, your turn. What do/did you do with your kids on cold or rainy days?

Potty Time

I don't think Rebecca is quite ready for actually potty training, but it is never too early to start talking about tee-tee and poo-poo.

Yesterday the UPS man delivered the Elmo Potty time DVD and a potty for Rebecca.  She had lots of fun playing with the potty.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Rebecca's favorite thing to do these days is to "ABCD."  That is what she calls putting stickers on paper.  Of course I took this opportunity to make it educational.  I only bought alphabet stickers.  Once a teacher, always a teacher.
