Rebecca and I have been visiting my parents for the past several days. We are enjoying spending time with them. I am enjoying being pampered by them since I have not been feeling well. It has been rainy most days, so we are spending lots of time indoors. Rebecca has been busy eating chicken salad, refusing to take her pajamas off, refusing to put regular clothes on, tickling Papa, playing with Carrie, blowing bubbles, jumping in puddles with Nannie, running from John, hugging Amy and Jay, loving on Kato, watching Dora, dressing up like a flower, turning the TV off and on, exploring all the drawers in the house, playing ball, and playing piano. We are both missing Rebecca's Daddy very much.
Summer Staples
Sunday, July 19, 2009
We had a very busy weekend doing all of the things that one should do in the summer.
On Friday, John and I took Rebecca to her first Braves game. It will probably be her last for a while. She was not interested at all at watching the game. Rebecca and I spent most of our time in the kids section of Turner Field playing and sliding. Luckily, John only cared to see the Greg Maddox Number Retirement Ceremony, so we were able to leave before the 2nd inning even started.
On Saturday we went to Chattanooga to spend the day on Lake Chickamunga with John's family. Of course Rebecca was dying to get in the water. She is fearless when it comes to water, even dark murky water. She had a great time splashing around and playing with her cousins.
On Sunday we spent a lot of time in the backyard. John and Rebecca decided to have a picnic.

No. 1 Thing Never to Say to Woman! EVER!

Are you expecting?
Yes, I am!
Oh, I wasn't sure if you were pregnant or just getting fat.
----------------------------
This was a actual conversation I had with an acquaintance.
Are you kidding me?
She is lucky that I took my Zofran this morning and didn't throw up all over her.
-----------------------------
With that being said, I am in that stage where it is hard to tell... but still!
I will be 10 weeks tomorrow!
---------------------------------
While I was having said conversation, Rebecca was at Camp having pajama day. This week's theme is Dr. Suess. This is what she looked like when I picked her up.

Finally the Fourth
Sunday, July 12, 2009
As usual, we went to Brevard, NC for the 4th of July. John's aunt and uncle, Bebe and Uncle Dave, live there. We had a great time spending the week with John's family and seeing a good amount of Rebecca's cousins.
On the morning of the 4th, we headed downtown for the street festival. For those of you from Cleveland, it reminds me a lot of Crosstie or October Fest. There are tons of people, lots of arts and crafts booths, food everywhere you look, and some fun things for the kids.
First, Rebecca, Papa, and I rode on the train.
It looks innocent enough, right? Wrong! It was a train ride from &%#@! The conductor had the train twisting and turning and going around and around and around in circles. Rebecca didn't seem to mind, but Rusty and I were both green when we got off. Rebecca's older cousins thought that the conductor had been hitting the juice a little too early in the morning.
After the train John and I got some lemonade, or I should say that Rebecca and I got lemonade. I do not think that Rebecca was sharing very well with her daddy.

Then she decided to take a stroll, just like last year.
and play in a fire truck. She wanted to push all the buttons in there, and got really mad at us when we would not let her.

Rebecca pitched a fit all the way down the street from the firehouse to Rocky's, an old soda shop. I think the poor baby was starving, because she at more than John and I did put together.

After lunch we headed back to our house for nap time. Here Rebecca is napping with Papa, Caroline, Lucy, and Mimi.

After nap time, we went to Brevard College to look for white squirrels. Rebecca was so excited to see one and chase it.

I felt really bad because there were a few people at the college trying to take pictures of this white squirrel, and Rebecca chased it up the tree and out of sight. Oh well, she had a blast.
We had a wonderful 4th. We are already looking forward to next year.
Rebecca and I were able to stay a few days more after the 4th. John had to get back to work. We had a blast with Mimi and Papa, and I was very thankful for the help.

Necessary Evil
Friday, July 10, 2009
I guess you have all figured out why I have not been blogging much as of late. It is all because of the necessary evil I like to call morning sickness, or in my case, all day sickness with an added punch in the evening. Luckily, I am 9 weeks today, so I feel like once I am past this week, I am on the downward spiral out of this mess. I do not feel as bad as I did when I was pregnant with Rebecca, but that is probably because Rebecca is keeping me very busy.
My due date for baby #2 is February 12th. Yes, we will find out the sex of the baby. No, we will not tell you the name. So, we are in need of a nickname for this baby. Rebecca's nickname was Squirt. I have been trying to come up with something, but so far, no luck. Any ideas?
I will try to work on a post about our 4th and our trip to Brevard. Hopefully I will have something done by Sunday night. Now I am off to eat.
