Good Witch or Bad Witch?

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

It was definitely a good witch that swept in on her broomstick for a visit the other day.

Bedtime Routine

Every night we have the same routine that we do with Rebecca before she goes to bed. She takes a bath, puts on her pjs, brushes her hair and teeth, we read books, and then just Rebecca and I will lay on the floor and sing and pray. I sing "You Are My Sunshine" every night. Then we say our prayers. After we say our prayers we make a list of everyone we love and want to pray for. Right now this list mainly consist of our immediate family. A usual conversation about these people goes like this:

M: Who do we want to pray for?
R: Dada
M: Dada, who else?
R: Uh oh! Dada has go to work.
M: Yep, Dada has to work. Who else do you want to pray for?
R: Mama
M: Mama, who else?
R: Uh oh! Mama has go play tennis. (I then realize that the only time I leave Rebecca is to go play tennis once a week. I need to get out more.)
M: Mama plays tennis Monday night. Who else do you want to pray for?
R: Dessa
M: Dessa, who else?
R: Mae Mae
M: Mae Mae, who else?
R: Rob. Uh oh! Rob scream. (He did this once at the TV during a Tennessee football game several weeks ago.)
M: Yes, he was upset with the Vols. Uncle Rob, who else?
R: Nannie
M: Nannie, who else?
R: Uh oh! Nannie had go take care of Kato (the cat).
M: Yep Nannie had to go home. Who else?
R: Kato. Uh oh, Kato in Mississippia.
M: That's right, Kato lives in Mississippi. Who else do you want to pray for?
R: Pop Pop
M: Pop Pop, who else?
R: Uh oh, Pop Pop in Mississippia too.
M: He lives in Mississippi, too.
R: Carrie had go Mississippia too.
M: She did, who else do we love?
R: Mimi
M: Mimi, who else?
R: Poppie. Uh oh! Mimi and Poppie had go bye-bye.
M: They had to go to there house. Who else do you want to pray for?
R: Amy Sid
M: Yep, who else?
R: Lucy
M: Yep, who else?
R: Caroline. Uh oh! Caroline sick.
M: She is. We need to pray hard for her. Who else do we want to pray for?
R: Amy Jay
M: Amy and Uncle Jay, who else?
R: Uh oh! Amy Jay had go ball game. (They were not able to come to the birthday party because of a baseball tournament.)
M: Yes, they had to go to a ball game. Who else?
R: John had go ball game, too.
M: That right, John had to play baseball.
R: Yeah.
M: Who else do you want to pray for?
R: Lala
M: Laura, who else?
R: Uh oh! Lala had go her house.
M: She had to go home.
R: Geeg
M: Greg
R: Geeg had go home, too.
M: Anybody else?
R: Mmmmmm (as she scratches the side of her head). I don't know.
M: Amen?
R: Amen!

This is pretty close to the conversation we have every night. I get so tickled at her. It amazes me what she remembers.

Baby Sister

Monday, September 21, 2009

That's right. Rebecca is going to have a baby sister. We couldn't be more excited. She looked great in the ultrasound, and even looked a little like her big sister in the profile picture.

Baby Sister
Rebecca
While we are not physically ready for her to get here, mentally I can not wait for February. I am so ready to hold her and nurse her and rock her. I also can not wait to see how Rebecca will be around her. Right now she gets a little miffed if I hold another baby, but maybe it will be different when it is her baby sister.

We talk about baby sister a lot. Rebecca likes to lift my shirt up, stick her nose in what is left of my belly button and say, "Hey, baby sister. I love you, baby sister." Then she kisses my belly. It is so cute.

Birthday Weekend

Monday, September 14, 2009

While I was sad that the weekend and it's festivities were over, I was glad to get back to a bit of normalcy (whatever that is). I had a fantatic weekend celebrating Rebecca's 2nd birthday, and I am pretty sure that Rebecca had a great weekend, too.

It started off Friday morning with blueberry muffins and a practice round of blowing out the candles. I wanted to be sure she would be able to preform in front of a crowd at her party.
We also spent sometime Friday morning cooking in her new kitchen. She has made some great meals all weekend long. Some of my favorites have been roasted chicken, stewed tomatoes, and a very, very, very hard boiled egg.
We also went to one of Rebecca's favorite places, Monkey Joe's. Luckily, Nannie went with us and jumped with Rebecca. They had a blast!
Friday afternoon was spent waited on all of Rebecca's peeps to come in town. Mimi and Papa came to visit. Pop Pop was bringing Carrie to Atlanta, and Laura and Greg arrived to help celebrate the big 2.

Saturday morning we had a birthday party at another one of Rebecca's favorite places, the park. The weather turned out to be perfect. Lots of Rebecca's friends came to the party, but of course with them being 2, give or take a few months, there are no pictures of them together. They were all over the place.

My favorite part of the whole day was watching Rebecca watch everyone sing Happy Birthday to her. She just stared at them all and waited patiently for them to finish.

Then she blew the candles out on the first try. I am glad we practiced.
Eating cake and ice cream with Laura.

After the party we took a very tired Rebecca home to nap, but she never fell asleep. She was too excited about the party (too hyped up on cake and ice cream) and too excited about a house full of cousins. Denise, Rob, and Mae were able to make it to the party. So after Rebecca's non-nap she ran around with Carrie and Mae while the men watched them. The big girls went wedding dress shopping with Laura. She found the most beautiful dress, but you will have to wait until June to see pictures.

I dressed Rebecca up in her Tennessee finest, hoping it would help them pull off a win (they need all the help they can get), but Rebecca looking cute as ever did not help them win. While John and Rob might of not had a great afternoon, the girls had a blast playing with Rebecca's new toys,
and taking a bath together.
The beautiful 2 year old Rebecca.

We finished up the birthday weekend with Rebecca's 2 year old check-up with Dr. Knox. His nurse was very impressed how well Rebecca handled everything. She stood very still while standing on the big scale for the first time (27 lbs.) and stood very tall for her height measurement (33 1/2 in.). She did not flinch at all when her finger was pricked, and she did a great job for her eye exam. She did cry for about 10 seconds when she got two shots, but she was her happy self soon afterwards. Dr. Knox could not believe how well she could talk and he was very impressed with her vocabulary. He asked if she could say between 30-50 words. He soon realized that she can and does say about anything. He said that she was pretty close to perfect. DUH! I could have told him that.

Dora in the House

Thursday, September 10, 2009

Rebecca has taken to playing dress up, and she is still wild about Dora. So, it was no surprise when she wanted to dress up as Dora yesterday. I just think it is hilarious her means to do so. Take a look:

Notice her "seat belt" around her waste (which is actually a stethoscope), her Tennessee hat (barf), and her backpack which Daddy had to rig up with scarves. I think Dora would be proud of her creativity.

School Days

Tuesday, September 8, 2009

Rebecca had her first day of MMO this morning. As you can tell from the picture above, she was super excited. She did not shed on tear when we pulled up and dropped her off. She went right to her teacher and didn't look back. Isn't she suppose to be a little sad to leave me?

Her teachers said she was fantastic all morning long. She painted a great picture. Her teachers were brave enough to get out paint on the first day. It was just red paint. Mrs. Maria told Rebecca that she liked what she was painting. Rebecca informed her it was Elmo.

Mrs. Maria also said that Rebecca was a great helper and did better than anyone at clean up time. I wish she would display that behavior at home.

I tried to have a photo shoot of Rebecca this morning before getting in the car. I was lucky to get the picture up above. Most of the pictures ended up like this. She was more interested in the ants.
