Nannie has Left the Building

Monday, March 8, 2010

That's right...after spending the entire month of February with us, Nannie decided it was time to leave. We were so lucky to have her. She was a super big help. She cooked and cleaned. She played and chauffeured. She bounced and snuggled. She did everything and then some.

But by Feb. 28, we felt that I was ready to go at it alone. Mom was a little more sure of that than I was. I had many a moments when I freaked out about being left alone with two little ones. How was I going to take care of both of them and myself? How was I going to keep them happy? What if they both needed me at the same time? How was I going to keep everyone fed? And what about the laundry and house cleaning?

Mom and my wonderful husband, John, both reassured me that I was going to be able to handle being alone with the girls. They told me that for the first weeks just to take care of myself and the girls. Everything else can wait. Luckily I have amazing in-laws in town that have helped out a bunch and great friends who are keeping us fed. As for the laundry and house cleaning... I will get to that one day.

We have been on our own for an entire week now. It has had it's challenges. I have learned that we can't all be happy all the time. Sometimes I have to take care of Rebecca while Presley is unhappy. Sometimes I have to take care of Presley while Rebecca is unhappy. Sometimes I have to take care of myself while they are both unhappy. But overall, it has been a huge success. I am a lucky mommy with two fantastic girls.

Everyday gets a little easier. Spring will be here before we know it, and that will help out a bunch. Being stuck in the house all day is not our cup of tea. We like to go and do, even if it is just for a stroll.

Here are some pictures from our first week alone:

Monday was pajama day. That's right, we all stayed in our pjs all day long.

It was finally nice out this weekend. We took the girls for a stroll down to a nearby park. Presley loved it. She was asleep by the time we left the driveway.
